Current Research

My main research focus is on immunohistochemical and single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis of ileocolonic tissue from healthy and Crohn’s Disease patients. I am specifically interested in the fibrotic stenosing lesions – analysing the cell populations and the causes of fibrosis in Crohn’s Disease.

This project is led by Prof. Mark Arends under the Helmsley Charitable Trust grant (https://helmsleytrust.org/). My work will be part of the Human Cell Atlas (https://www.humancellatlas.org/) and the “Gut Cell Atlas”.

I have acquired my Ph.D. under supervision of Prof. Richard Oreffo (University of Southampton) and Prof. Mark Bradley (University of Edinburgh) in Southampton for investigating natural and synthetic materials used for targeted stem cell fate and function in skeletal repair.
